Laughing rather breathlessly, he manages to evade the fatherly onslaught long enough to get himself and the boat back under control.

Relatively speaking, anyway.

Dennis leaves him be for now, grinning, resting his weight on his forearms beside him. "Yaharrr," he says, cheerfully. "Who's sailing today, Jake 'n Bake? Pirates? Vikings? Insurance salesmen?"

"Elves."

... What?

"Aha," says Dennis, after a momentary thinky face. "Sailing to the Grey -- Thing? Or are they off to war?"

Kate's out for a walk near the water's edge when she's drawn to the sounds of imminent cute.

Naturally, she has to inspect.

"Gotchaaa! The lake monster will never release you!"

Dennis isn't much of a lake monster, but he is rolling onto his back with his arm locked around Jake's middle.

[OOC: Wait for a Jake-tag, sil vous plait? We can do a Kate-Dennis-Jake posting order, if that's cool by you. :D]

"Daaaaaaaad," he gasps. "There's no monster in there."

Well... as far as he knows.

Kate can't help but laugh as she nears the pair.

"Actually, there's a squid."

[ooc: No problem at all! Sorry for not pinging before tagging - AIM is being more wonky than usual.]

Larry hasn't explored much out back, mostly because he keeps coming into the bar from work and wouldn't want to explain tracking snow or mud around inside to the museum director. But today, it's relatively not-muddy, so he's having a look.
The commotion by the lake's hard to miss, and then it turns out it's someone he met the other day - so that must be the kid. (This is actually slightly easier to handle than the prospect of bumping into the kid by himself - even in Milliways, that has a little sketch factor to it.)
So he heads over. "Not interrupting, am I?"

Jake is yelling; Dennis, meanwhile, pauses with the boy held aloft. "No," he says. "Not at all. Say hello to Larry, Jake."

Jake peers up at him from his rather precarious position.

"Hi."

"Hey. How are you two?"
Aside from the 'obviously having fun' thing, anyway.
