Rodney is so tired of saving the damn universe.

He wants beer.

And maybe to rant very loudly. But of course by the time you're close enough to hear, it's already too late.

It's a kind of ranting Elizabeth hasn't heard in what seems like years, and when she's walking down the stairs from her room and sees Rodney, she finds herself almost hoping he'll start proclaiming that he destroyed another solar system.

"Rodney?" Elizabeth asks, almost disbelieving.

[dr_mckay]

"Elizabeth," Rodney replies immediately, tone sharp in a way that she doesn't deserve at all.

Pause.

Thought.

"...Elizabeth?" he swivels on his stool to stare at her.

"Rodney! It's about time you've shown up around here!" Elizabeth moves quickly to Rodney's side, giving him a hug. "I've been here for months now. Kate and John are here too, Bound. Radek's able to come and go back to his university -- "

Rodney finds himself hugged and his eyes go wide enough that you'd worry he was about to explode. A pause, then he pats her arm... and gives in, and hugs her back.

"Elizabeth. I'm so sorry. Are.... are you okay?"

"Rodney?"

[dr_mckay]

Turn. Scowl. Blink. Stare.

"...yes, that would be who I am."

Parker looks only a little different, new scars, a glint in his eye.

He sits down.

"Long time, no see."

[dr_mckay]

Rodney looks assessingly. Frowns some more. Not judgementally, just because he frowns a lot.

"Yes, well. I've been saving the galaxy. How about you?"
