Liam comes in smiling. Then he sees a certain sign, as he approaches the Bar, and the smile fades.

It vanishes entirely by the time he's finished reading the letter that shows up with his drink, and he slumps visibly on his stool. After a few minutes, he raises his glass to the empty air behind the Bar, glumly.

Guppy is passing on his way to the bar when he sees the decidedly upset looking Liam on the way.

"Liam? You all right?"

"Sunny... Bernard's daughter? Carves tables with her teeth?"

"That's the one. Only a few months older than Megan, and she's got a little brother now."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy smiles.

"Yes, I heard about that. I haven't met the littl'un but it would have been hard to miss the news. Do you know what you're having?"

"Not yet. We didn't ask - nice to keep it a surprise sometimes."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy nods.

"Yeah, I think I'd want a surprise. Have you been thinking of names yet?"

"A few. We talked about Charlotte, it's a family name on Karen's side. And a couple of others, but nothing definite."

[guppy_sandhu]

"How far along is she?"

[youalleverybody]

"Due in... five or six months."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Eh, you've got ages yet then."

[youalleverybody]

"Definitely." He grins. "And you know we'll be showing him or her off in here, as soon as we can."

[guppy_sandhu]

"I'll look forward to it. Best of luck."

He smiles and sips his tea.

"Anyway, I'm probably going to have to go in a minute, I'm on call tonight. Are you going to be okay?"

Liam nods.

"Yeah, I'll be right. Go home to Karen, in a bit, but I've got a thing or two to do here, first."

Saying goodbye to Eddie.

Guppy nods and gets up.

"Well I hope things work out. See you around."

A gentle hand on the man's shoulder for a moment, then he goes.
