The Park, All Morning and Afternoon, Saturday

Dec 22, 2007 09:41

Ken wanted to die.

He was sitting in the gazebo of the park, in a big chair.

Dressed like Santa, complete with fake beard. His 'ho ho ho's sounded a little snarky, but he was doing his best not to ruin it for the kids.

His shins already told him never to have his own children.

Dean was making his way through the park and walked right by the gazebo.

Then he stopped and backed up, a clear look of incredulous amusement on his face.

"Dude, where are your hot elves?"

"Dude, I wish," Ken said. "Though that might be a good thing, that there aren't any."

"I dunno, man, some chicks are way into guys who'll humiliate themselves for the kids,"

"Dude, I'm more referring to the fact that small kids have to sit in my lap," Ken said.

Last night's attack had Mack worried; in his line of work you never saw creatures like that without it meaning someone bigger was after something important.

Which was to say, a clue that might lead to one of the Corona Aurora jewels.

Tracker out, he was wandering around the town scanning for any jewel-linked unusual readings.

Well, he saw something unusual, all right.

And he was absolutely not above switching his Tracker into cameraphone mode to take a picture.

Ken had no idea about cellphone cameras. So he just raised an eyebrow.

Mack gave him a Totally Innocent Grin. "New hobby, or more of a calling in life?"

"I hope the little ones aren't giving you too much trouble." Screwtape said in a way that suggested the opposite was true.

"Yeah, yeah. Doing fine," Ken said.
