Seems to me that LJ is in some sort of death spiral, hope I'm wrong. I was reflecting this morning, tweeted about it, (ironic, I suppose),  on how much I like it as a tool for social networking and information sharing. As i posted, it seems the attacks are politically-motivated to shut up Russian anti-Putin/pro democracy political figures who blog on LJ (seems this is one of the few ways these politicians can get their views out since the media isn't exactly free).

There's always Dreamwidth - just like LJ but supposedly better (i still don't really understand the main features that are supposedly better but whatever).

Wow, at this pace Russia may need another revolution soon. this time, don't let dickwads ascend to the top. Bring back Gorbachev or something.

yeah, but, it's not so much that I'm looking for another LJ, I'm just ruing the fact that the social networking/info share tools that have become wildly popular lack the sort of features and implementation that I'd like to see, the sort that are on LJ. LJ and Dreamwidth have almost all the features I'd like to see, except the key one for networking and info sharing, a large user base.
