I could probably whip up a GF Clam Chowder, my brother makes roux from rice flour all the time, and it's *mostly* potato-based to begin with. Commercial chowder is a waste anyways, compared to scratch. The bread bowl is probably right out, very few GF breads (that I've seen) have enough structure to hold up to soup.
(Cook chopped up bacon and onions together until the bacon is cooked and the onions are clear. Pour off every bit of grease you can. Add sliced potatoes and enough milk to cover the potatoes, cook low until potatoes go soft. Smash it a little. Fill with a combination of cream and/or half-and-half and/or milk that makes you happy. Put in clams (canned, fresh, whole-baby, chopped, whatever). If you *really* want to, put in corn. Don't put in clam shells. Add salt and pepper. Serve hot. All this is to experiment with in quantity until it is the way you like it. These days, I'd leave out the bacon.)

Salty Lassi is really good. I'm also a fan of sweet if they use rosewater, but not mango.
