Marty knocked on the door to M's office. "Professor M? I need to borrow some spy equipment. It's a personal matter."

M looked up from her computer, where she was engaged in a sharp-tongued email correspondence with her assistant.

"Let me see if I understand this, Blank. You want me to loan you sensitive espionage equipment for your own personal use."

"Too vital to be brought to the attention of the school administration?" M remarked, closing the laptop. "I don't just hand out that sort of equipment because I'm asked for it, Blank. You'll have to do better than that."

Parker showed up around third period, carrying the dark-light camera. She rapped on the doorframe, then held up the camera. "Thank you for letting me borrow this, M."

M looked up from her computer, lips pressed together in a frown.

"You'd think that the most efficient covert operations center in the world would be able to think a little more creatively when the occasion arises," she remarked sourly, waving Parker into the office. "You took the film out already?"

"Yes, and developed it." Parker looked curious at M's previous statement, and cocked her head, placing the camera carefully on the desk. "What kind of creativity are they lacking? If it's not classified."

"Well, you tell me," M replied, getting up from her chair to return the camera to storage. "You sent out the email, so I feel safe in assuming it isn't classified. Why exactly is it that I can't seem to track down any decent sort of intelligence on a good half of the student population?"
