Serious Questions

Mar 29, 2013 02:25

It's been a while since I've seen the episode, and I don't own it, so: which country is "The Dove Affair" set in? Is it supposed to be Terbuf, a real country, or just generic Eastern-bloc nation #8?

Also, is there any mention of what Illya is doing, or is it just a regular old solo-Solo mission?

help!

There is a county called Terbuf in Albania so perhaps it is supposed to be Albania, or they looked at a map of eastern bloc countries and randomly chose that place name. One of the few things I know about Albania is that its the country the US decides to declare war on in Wag the Dog so perhaps its a good generic fictional stand in.

I like your Hatter icon by the way.

Napoleon went on several *ahem* solo missions in the first season - part of the singular 'man' in the title. I don't know that they ever mentioned what Illya was doing in this episode. Probably just messing around in the labs or typing up Napoleon's reports back at HQ.

Or choosing furniture for his new flat.... Or improving his Serbo-Croat..... Or um, trying out a new recipe his mama sent him .. Just the sort of mindless activity I like. I could write a whole short story on this.

The Dove Affair doesn't take place in Terbuf, the country is called Sernia (though I have no clue if that's the right spelling) and I've always assumed it doesn't exist--just generic somewhere in the Balkans.

There's a nicely detailed review here:
