There's been quite a bit of discussion in blogs and on other websites about the possible reunion of the Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches. Some say that the obstacles have been swept away, and reunion is imminent, within a year at most. Others are more sceptical, and say that there's a lot of unfinished business.

No, I don't think the discussion can be exhausted by comparing differences, because some of the differences may turn out to be more similar than they are different, at some levels.
In the summaries above I just gave short extracts from much longer posts, trying to give the flavour of the content. In mine on Original Sin I quoted from Schemann and Chesterton, who, it seems to me, though belonging to one "camp", have an insight into and feeling for the other.
In the case of the missiologists (my own field of study) I was partly annoyed with Bevans and Schroeder, the authors of the book, for getting it so wrong about Orthodoxy -- yet what they actually proposed in their book was a lot closer to Orthodoxy than what they described as Orthodox. The point is, though, that they didn't know. I met Roger Schroeder a few months ago, and he said as much.
