Really, yeah, I was taught that WWI happened because Europe was riddled with alliances at the time, and Austria-Hungary's otherwise unnoticeable conflict got blown the hell out of all proportion because of these alliances.

P.S. be so extremely careful who you talk about Gallipoli to. Australia and New Zealand took a hell of a lot of casualties there, and it's not something that they laugh about. This is why ANZAC Day is on the anniversary of that battle.
