Purple Basil

I planted three packets (yes, PACKETS) of purple basil. If all goes well, and the cats don't eat it, I may be able to make purple pesto this summer. I wish I had a real garden instead of a balcony that will be nothing but herbs soon enough.

I plan on it! I am contemplating purple shallots or black garlic in the pesto. I'm hoping that it will be as tasty as it looks. Gwen is already contemplating a whole purple meal; potato, eggplant, pesto, pasta, dessert.
