Here's the story as new_man told me.

Yesterday Albert had an appointment with the groomer. When he goes out, he wears his fashionable red harness, which he doesn't love. new_man put him in the harness a little early, to get him used to the idea and left him on the chaise in the library. new_man then went upstairs to get dressed ( Read more... )

You have my sympathies :-/

From time to time we've had to put an E-collar or a turnout muzzle on one of our hounds; usually, they accept it [grudgingly], but once in a while, one will do anything in hir power to Get That Thing Off Me--pawing, rolling, rubbing hir head up against furniture, etc.

Was a leash attached to the harness? Albert may have spooked and then tried to outrun the scary snake-thing that was following him....

The leash wasn’t attached to the harness yet. Usually Albert’s reaction to being put in the harness is to flop his butt down on the floor and refuse to move.

I suppose the only explanation is that he is a cat. And their motives defy explanation. : )
