What are some of your favourite Merthur fics? I'm looking for anything over atleast 25,000+ words, however I will not be dismayed if you throw in anything shorter either. In Time of Trial by shinetheway - Summary: Uther fears his son's power, and Merlin has helped Arthur flee to escape imprisonment. Now the two of them must fight to regain Arthur's rightful place in Camelot.

The Crown of the Summer Court by astolat - Summary: "The king sent me to get you," Merlin said, with a tone that implied strongly that he wasn't rolling his eyes where Arthur could see, but just wait until his back was turned. "He said you're to get changed into formal clothes and meet him in the Great Hall, there's a delegation coming from the Summer Court."

The Tournament of All Magicks by corilannam - Summary: Merlin was flattered to be invited to compete in a magical tournament to crown the sorcery champion of Albion. Accepting the invitation probably wasn't his brightest idea.

Post hoc, ergo propter hoc (‘After this, therefore because of this.’) - Summary: History books would not remember Gaius’ death precipitating the greatest war Albion had ever seen. That blame lay entirely with an inexperienced sorcerer and the Prince ( ... )

The trope stems from werewolf lore/fiction and was first developed in Supernatural fandom (big surprise). Alphas are the bosses in a wolf pack, Omegas the bottom of the hirarchy, Betas neutral in the middle.

Here's an article about it on fanlore. Since you're not into mpreg, I don't think you'll much enjoy Omegaverse since many of the stories end in mpreg.
