Ah, good question! Well, I guess it doesn't have to be USA, I just figured that some regions would want to have their own groups to chat in the languages they prefer, but I guess if it works here fine, then it should work there fine too ;)

If I were to change it, what should be the new name of the group?
"Menstrual Cups International"?
just "Menstrual Cups"?

etc... would love suggestions!

especially small countries/languages already have these groups/non-facebook communities. well, unless there are too few individual enthusiasts.

my suggestion would be menstrual cups worldwide :) but really it doesn't matter to me :D

and haha i read your post more attentively and i'm totally giggling about "on board the cup-train" :D

I agree. Calling it USA would automatically signal exclusion to non US users.
One word of caution: this site is a great resource, and an additional FB page may bring about a split in the information available.

"Menstrual Cups Worldwide" seems to be the popular name, so I changed it to that ;)

My main worry was anyone thinking that I was trying to split up this community at all, which is why I contacted the admins first. I wanted to run it by them, give them a heads up, and see if they had any feedback first before I posted it for everyone to see, but alas they didn't reply so I figured maybe having an open discussion about it with the members would be good too. Ok ok, maaaaybe I was kind of hoping they'd let the FB group be somewhat tied in to this community officially so that they'd work together more harmoniously, but that was probably sort of far fetched, really I just hoped to get their blessing <3 ( ... )

To be honest, I probably won't be joining any cup-related FB groups because of the privacy issue. I have a huge number of friends/colleagues on my FB and they'd be able to see which groups I'm in, etc--and in my male-dominated field this would be kind of awkward. I prefer the intimacy and privacy controls available on LJ. Best of luck, though!

Great idea! I have friends who I wouldn't necessarily want to refer to LJ, just b/c they then might realize I have an LJ! Or they don't have a clue what it is. I did make a mistake when I tried to join b/c I was signed into my son's account (Erik Possum. . . we play stupid FB games together). I think I cancelled that request, though.
