I wish I had more guts to make posts on characters I've never interacted with before. I wish there was some sort of sign that let people know if things really ARE OTA and open to new players/character interaction.

When did that actually start by the way? Years ago everything was OTA unless otherwise noted. Now it seems awkward tagging into something that doesn't specifically say OTA, and sometimes even when it does.

That could just be me.

Personally, I think there's a fear of being honest when posting. People are so quick to call others snobs, cliche, and so on when they're honest about what they want in a thread. I would rather have someone put "Males only" on a post than OTA. It sucks posting to something I think is open and my character gets ignored because they aren't the right sex or from the right fandom.

I completely and totally agree with you. I would much rather have open disclaimers then tag in and be ignored. Though there are times when you exchange a few tags and it just doesn't work out between players or characters. That's tough as well, you can't plan for that.

Still, I agree with you.

What ever happened to respecting another mun's wishes? Everyone has different kinks and comfort levels, and when someone says no to something, then respect their wishes. Don't throw ooc fits, or be rude to them. RP isn't suppose to revolve around what one mun wants, especially in a partnership.

And speaking of, stop complaining about not getting any tags to your posts. The reason you don't is because you make no effort to tag anyone else. We all have to tag your special snowflake posts, then you make us do all the writing, while your character just sits there and gives crap tags.

The problem with that is that not everyone says "I'm not comfortable with such and such" until later on, and maybe not until after they're completely turned off to you. Some believe that stopping a thread is enough to deal with any awkwardness, but considering all the other reasons a thread may never get responded to(LJ eating the tag, lack of idea how to continue, computer issues, etc.), it doesn't stop the problem, just delays it to come up again later.

As for the complaining about posts... yeah, I'm not going to argue there really, although as with the last thing, you need to bring it up to the RPer. I've had that problem where I've even tried expanding what I type to make them type more, and only got short replies.

Communication is good, yes, and it should be on both muns to do it. My experience stems from another mun deciding it was alright for their mun to sexually assault mine. There was no asking before hand, they merely answered by thread and tried to do it. When I sent a PM, telling them I was not comfortable with it and would not be answering the tag, they got nasty with me. People seem to think it's a crime to PM someone and ask questions even though most muns don't mind getting them.

Not just memebells.
SWS is quiet. As is SSWS. The usual active communities have all seemed fairly quiet. Perhaps because of all the technical difficulties and downtime.

yeah... the sad part about it all this is the only meme that gets alot of activity. and most of it is bitching about blahblahblah. these guys are doing a good enough job without lj's fuck ups.

oh, please. anon bitching happens on all sites, not just lj.

I wish people would give others a chance, and tag around more. That's one of the many reasons why memebells, sws and ssws are all dying. I miss the days when my threads would get 2-3 people tagging them.

I miss the days when there'd be several posts a day on memebells and several pages of comments.

I spend more time rp-ing on Twitter and Tumblr now, and don't check in at LJ often anymore, even though a year ago it was my go-to place to play every single day.

I still have people here I love to rp with, but since I am inactive for weeks at a time, I feel like I shouldn't tag them back, and then more time passes. I'm not sure if I should try to get back into it or just let it go so I don't annoy them anymore with spotty tagging. Advice?

I've been in a similar situation, where I started to play more in private museboxes and ignored the meme communities and dressing rooms. While most of the people I like playing with play in said museboxes, some don't and I did feel bad for kind of leaving them behind. What I did was sent them a PM and explained what was going on. I'm sure some of the people you tag with here won't mind slow tags, and I'm sure some will. But I guess it's better for them to know what's going on instead of them thinking you aren't interested in them anymore.
