Huff puff! It was dark... And quiet... Wolf knew that there were people around; he could hear them, smell them. But all the houses were in complete darkness, heavy blinds pulled over the windows. There were no street lights, just the sliver of moon to light his way.

Somewhere above him he could hear a faint rumbling sound. Something big in the sky.

And then the sirens started to wail.

Things were changing and they all were aware that they had to do their part. Not only the country that had given them a home now was at stake, but people all over the world were fighting in the name of justice. Thinking that way made it tiny bit easier. It made dropping out from school and barely seeing her parents bareable.

At least Robin could sew those uniforms at home. She could also take care of the house chores and take dinner to her parents at the factory and the hospital whenever they stood there to work until late hours of the night, which turned to be quite often.

Walking home on her own, late, was scary still. But she had to be brave. She had to fight too.

The sound of the air raid siren was ear piercing to Wolf. He didn't know what it was warning him of, but he knew that it was a warning. Like a rabbit thumping the ground, he could hear the way it sent people scattering behind their closed doors.

Someone rushed past it, their footsteps the only sound on the cobbled street. He could see their hunched posture though, as if huddling in on themselves would somehow protect them from the nearing drone that could be heard overhead, even over the sirens.

Huff puff! He had to find shelter!

At first, she thought it was an ambulance, maybe the firetruck. She hoped it, at least. But no, soon enough the siren grew louder and they all knew what that meant.

Robin rushed her step, struggling to keep in her arms her parents laundry, some clothes people had given her to fix too.

She was practically running home when she dropped a couple of items without reaising it.

The shirt slipped from the pile that the girl was carrying, the bleached whiteness of it stark as it fluttered to the ground. It was so bright you could probably see it from in the sky even.

... And with that Wolf suddenly realized why all the lights were blocked out everywhere; to stay hidden from whatever nocturnal hunter was up there.

Cripes.

Hurrying, he scooped up the dropped clothes and held them screwed up to his chest as he rushed to catch it.

"Miss! Hoh... Miss! You dropped these..."

Robin was so set on the idea of finding shelter, even if her house would probably not give much of it, that she barely even heard she was being called.

The man's insistance finally caught her attention though.

Looking behind her shoulder she spotted him, handsome and fast. Before she could even catch her breath he had joined her. "T-Thank you."

He gave her a smile - Hoh, she was cute! Even in the dark, hurried and scared... Now he wanted to see her in better conditions to see how much more beautiful she could be.

"My pleasure," he bowed his head, "for a beautiful lady."

Suddenly the drone overhead fell silent, there was a whizzing sound and then an explosion, some miles away, but the ground still shook.

"Cripes!"

She barely had any time to blush, holding against her chest the clothes he had returned.

With a yelp, when everything shook Robin lost her balance and fell on her knees. She wasn't one to wait for help though; quickly, she got back to her feet and hurried back to her path. "We need shelter!"

The pretty girl was up on her feet again before Wolf could even offer her his further assistance. She definitely wasn't a heroine that would wait in a tower to be rescued. She was feisty. He liked that.

"Yes!" He agreed with her, whining a bit as he kept up with her.

Robin's heels clicked in the street, her old dress and coat feeling too heavy the more she ran. She was tired, or to be more precise, she had been sleepless for a while now.

It didn't take long before they reached the Ruddford's home. It was a small, humble house. Quickly she opened the door and guided the man inside. He might be a gentle stranger, but unknown or not she couldn't just leave him outside.

"Let's move to the basement." As fast as she could, she locked the door and guided him through the house.

Wolf had no idea where he was, what his surroundings were, or why there were things dropping from the sky and exploding. The house was dark and musty, but he didn't have time to take in anything else about it.

"Okay." He nodded hurriedly, staying close to her heels like a loyal dog as she lead the way.

In a blink they were at the basement's door. With one hand to the wall, she took the stairs, trying to spot the place where they have left the oil lamps.

"Quick!" She hurried the man, leaving the old clothes aside to light up the small, shaky room.

He made a gruff sound as he did as she urged, hurrying down the steps. The damp smell increased as he moved under street level. The room was kitted out sparsely, few chairs and a cot, some tinned food, and a couple of photos on the wall. There was a pile of blankets too.

He couldn't help whining. This was a small place underground. It was like a prison cell, and if the things that were falling caused the building to fall they'd be trapped. Like hunters filling in a fox hole. No escape.

Robin's eyes were set on the ceiling above them. Everytime the place shook, that dust came off it, she knew another bomb was falling. Covering her mouth, she suppressed whining, the fear for both of her parents' wellfare growing stronger.

After hanging the oil lamp, she carefully headed towards one of the chairs and took a seat. It wasn't until that moment that she seemed to truly address the fact that she was sharing her space with a complete stranger.

She looked up at him, fear easy to read on her face.

Wolf was on edge himself. He couldn't even begin to understand what was happening outside. It was all he could do not to cower in the corner as he carefully lowered himself onto a chair and sat with his knees pressed together, his hands knotted together on his lap. It was difficult to be charming right now.

"... Is there... Is there a war going on?" It seemed like the most obvious cause to him.

Was that some kind of sick joke?

"Of course we are in war." She narrowed her eyes. "Everybody knows that."
