This is beautiful. I've read a handful or so of fics in which Severus and Lily are lovers or friends, but less of this unrequited, unnoticed sort, and the stark poetry of this makes it very appealing. That, and this seems more canon-compatible, lol. ;P The last sentence is especially entrancing. Aww.
