Ooh -- I like the idea of acting as transformative work, since you're taking someone else's script and then bringing it to life in your own way. \o/

And yay talking!

I'm such a fan of regarding acting as transformative. I like the layering quality that comes from it, at least in the context of theatre. Everyone knows the story of Hamlet but every production I've seen hit slightly different notes, played with different pieces of the text and interpreted things. Yay with transforming the source text!

The TALKING. I LOVE THE TALKING. (And I apologise for the capslock.) But I really just love the talking-bit. I mean, it's a specific bit, not just John and Rodney talking in general (though I do love that a fair amount), but I really, really just. *tiny spazz* Man. Talk-ing. So epic. I hope other people like it.

One of the things I love about SGA and the fandom is all the banter between characters. Can't wait to read your fic!

It's not even banter; it's talking. *pastes hand over mouth to smother anything more*

But yes, I totally love the banter. It's so funny!

I'm sure you meant "complement each other". *takes off proofreading hat*

Yay Talking. This sounds good.
I am getting very excited for this challenge. And generally feeling a lot of John/Rodney glee! (Also, my love of John Sheppard is growing in leaps and bounds. *draws tiny hearts, too*)

John Sheppard is just weird. He seduces you, I swear. Because I started out pretty much entirely in love with Rodney, and I'm still pretty much entirely in love with Rodney, but more and more do I feel the urge to do flail-y-arms and coo, "Oh, John," and make snuffly-noises about him. It's weird.

And yes, yes I did. Man, I spelled-checked and everything! This is what comes from typing when you are too brain-dead-tired to re-read.

I didn't like John for the longest time. I mean, I liked him and liked reading about him, he was a cool character. And Rodney liked him and Rodney is adorable. But I thought that Joe Flanigan looked like a mouse, and that John's hang ups were frustrating and eye-roll-worthy. Now I want to squash him into a ball and squish him, and pinch his cheeks, and bump shoulders with him in a comrade-y way. The shot of him in Rising, sitting on the grass, flipping his coin, which I saw in a vid yesterday for the first time made me all flail-y arms about him. And his hang ups are heart wrenching. I make imploring eyebrows just thinking about them.

I have an embarrassing sort of crush on Joe Flanigan actually, which I try not to encourage in myself, but every clip I've seen of him from cons or in interviews, I can't help but find him insanely adorable. That probably has added something to John growing on me as character. Because at first, I mean, I just thought John was an asshole and a jerk and maybe kind of fascinating but not the first one I read for and not the first one I watched for. I mean, right, yeah, I figured Rodney liked him and I love Rodney, so dammit, John had better be with Rodney if it made Rodney happy.

But then somehow it all changed and I got weirdly charmed and now I'm disturbingly in love with John and his stupid hang-ups and his stupid faces, as well as Rodney. OH, JOHN. You weird-o.

One of the things I absolutely adore about them is that really, deep down, they're good for each other. They bring out good things in each other. They don't just complement each other and get on well, but they make each other better.

Yes. :-D
