Of M.e. and Dogs...

I'm not a huge dog person. I don't hate them, I just like cats more. And like kids, dogs take a lot more effort than cats. I had one dog that I adored as a child and young teen. She was awesome. Kind. Friendly. Not a jumper, not a barker (unless as a doorbell), not afraid of kids (or rats, or possums, or raccoons ( Read more... )

Hey, tell the neighbors you're an animal lover and you like their dogs. Tell them if they wanted you could install a small panel in the fence so they could come into your yard and they would have alot more room to play and run around. Then when they come over, you secretly take him in a groom him!
Yeah, its far fetched. Better than the "i see you don't give a shit about your dog" approach lol

Second that!!! Maybe after awhile, like two days, the sheepdog would decide the grass IS greener on your side of the fence and refuse to go back. Then you and Dan'l would have a dog you could love, fair and square. More importantly, the dog would have a home, a really good, forever home, which is what all God's creatures deserve!

Ugh! Stuff like that really breaks my heart. One of our across the street neighbors had a black dog that was really old tied to their back step (not even a porch, just a big step), and it could barely get down to potty. When finally passed, they bought a black lab puppy that they now keep tied to the back step. What the hell is the point of getting a dog if all it does is sit outside tied to one spot? I never even see anyone come out to see him or anything. Sometimes he gets loose and plays outside the fence with the yellow lab next door. He's so happy when that happens, so I never say anything about him being loose (I just worry about Wesley, but he's pretty savvy about dogs).

All that to say, I hate people!

Yeah that is a difficult situation and it's hard to sit still while you can clearly see someone neglect an animal. I don't see the point in having a pet if you aren't going to spoil it. I once had some crazy neighbors who would leave their basset hound chained in the yard *all* the time. One time he got himself really tangled around their bush so I decided to untangle him to give him more space. And since no good deed goes unpunished......they started leaving trash on my car, weeee! Crazy people, this world is full of them.

I think you could probably liberate this sheepdog and if you had it groomed, they wouldn't recognize it. "No, this sheepdog is my new sheepdog, doesn't look a thing like the one you had (which looked terrible thanks to your neglect). :D
