On LJ (and DW?), where exactly do I go to change it so that any logged-in user can send me a private message and not just friends?

For years, somehow I've had it where only friends can send me private messages and sometimes (dating back to as early as 2009 or 2010, I think) non-friends (that I wanted to allow private messages from) tell me that

Now I'm annoyed, too. x( I just went through EVERYTHING and I can't find it. I use to know! I do know that LJ has changed a lot of things, like being able to switch back & forth between the old and new journal styles--if you do that now, you don't have the option of switching back without going to them. Pain in the ass! I will keep looking, but I just went through everything. Maybe you have a smarter friend that will help you. ;)

Did you send a PM to her old or new username? If the former, I didn't know it was possible to send a PM to a deleted account... I think I even tried that once when another LJ friend who I thought would never leave LJ suddenly did, but it didn't work.

I tried looking there and it didn't work. For one, that tab is called Privacy now.

I guess it was only possible in the old version of LJ, and since I didn't find it before I switched to the new version, I'm stuck with the setting I have. Oh well.
