Super Mario World Randomizer

As if corrupted SMW levels and randomly-generated semi-coherent text weren't amusing enough on their own, now they're combined into one thing: the Super Mario World Randomizer!

The level names kind of remind me of a vague idea I had for a LJ meme several years ago, after I found out about the LJ Dungeon Adventure and LJ Space Adventure memes; I ( Read more... )

:) I want to actually try out the SMW Randomizer at some point (the one in the video), and now I'm hoping the list of random words it can put into level names like "happy", "death", "emerald", "pepperoni" comes with it in a text file somewhere so I can add stuff from my LJ interests list (or other arbitrary words related to things I like) to it. But that may or may not be the case. Oh well, I bet it'll be fun to try out anyway :)

Did you actually watch the video, by the way? Or the one I put in the comments before I saw that you replied? :)

There's a lot of smiley faces in this comment. :)

Oh, turns out the SMW Randomizer is a GitHub project. So while it wouldn't be as easy as editing a text file, theoretically I actually could add new words to the list of random words for level names if I were confident enough with my knowledge of GitHub to do that. (Which I'm not. I always needed help uploading files to GitHub in my classes. And actually, I might've just assumed that it would be possible to contribute just because there's a "Contribute" button on the page.)

Oh well, playing around with it should still be fun anyway :)

Here's another video of it that I'm watching right now:

I like how both of the videos I've seen of the SMW Randomizer just happen to include variations of Donut Plains 4 - the level I put Enya into in this age-old userpic. :)

Funny that you mention Randomizers. I was watching some guy on Twitch the other day, and he had this randomizer on for the game he was playing. (EARTHBOUND) Things looked... very different!

The LJ Dungeons and Space Adventures haven't worked reliably for about 15 months now, unless something's changed.

I bet! :)

As much as it would not surprise me if they didn't work anymore because a LOT of sites that used to work don't anymore, the LJ Dungeon adventure worked for me just now...

I died in the Dungeon of Matt1993

I was killed in a brightly-lit storage room by Forgetmenotcj the gelatinous cube, whilst carrying...

the Shield of Flamingsheeppoo, a Figurine of Skyrabbit, the Sword of Unowncafe, the Crown of Charss, a Figurine of Hoyland54, the Dagger of Mystic Dreamer and 67 gold pieces.

Yeah, they seem to be normal and non-cramped right now.

By them not working, did you mean you got an error message when you tried to play them or that you could play them but couldn't go very far in most of them (like what happened after I took the teleporter in the space one)?

(Chrome doesn't count "teleporter" as a word?)
