I totally agree about whole bunch of clones. TV and movies, well they have billions of dollars to promote them, that's why people know them. And social media by itself don't forget about it, people all the same spend hours posting their pics on Instagram and Snapchat. I sometimes wonder who gives a crap what they post because they are all self-absorbed, they only care about themselves. And to be fair, Ikea is some Swedish crap, isn't it? So it's not only American but you are right mainly American culture, which is not really culture but some surrogate. Mass culture. So I would say the same crap promoted by companies that have money and people with the lack of future and aspirations just consume that because they have nothing else in their lives.

About the promotion aspect, I agree with you. But it astounds you, and terrifies you at the same time, how much people are all after that stuff without even thinking for a second. And even although they're old enough to sometimes know the originals to the remakes.
Saying, that one who made me go in that direction of true individualism, it would be his fucking nightmare. He'd shoot himself again in the second he'd realize that how very few things have changed.
Speaking, it really shows the worst side of mankind and gives you reason enough to find only detestation for them.
They talk about themselves all the time "no, we're no sheep, we're all individuals!", but if you take a look at such things you find such phrases be a mockery about reality.
