I heard from Doug B last night in his 'I have my official hat on' role, and I'm now Master of Horizon. I'm all happy and stuff. :-)

It's actually hard to sum up how I feel. Partly it's 'well, yeah', since I’ve pretty much been doing this for months. But it feels different, all the same. And I've been aware right along that it really is the EC's decision - they usually vote in the outgoing body master's recommendation, but they can vote in whomever they want to, for any reason or no reason at all.

I'm excited, in a relaxed way. I really want to do this, and I'm looking forward to the next few years. I've given a lot of thought to how to function well in this capacity - it's not that hard a job in terms of day to day work, and I have really good officers. But it's a very hard job all the same. Burnout seems to be almost a given. Of course, as an officer I've burnt out and recovered a couple of times already, so that's not new territory.

We will be having a transition and installation ceremony after mass on 1/28. Hope to see you all there!
