This is no doubt a sign of my arrant stupidity but in your discussion of membership I don't see anywhere that you say how to apply for membership. I have lurked following your community for quite a long time because I am a very long-time MR fan. I would regret not being able to follow the community in the future although I would not expect to be active for personal/professional reasons.

Not stupidity at all. I shouldn't assume that everyone is familiar with LJ procedures.

To apply to join MRF:

1. Open MRF's Profile page.
   
   
2. Click "Join". On my layout, the interface looks like this:
