Fic: Wrong Choices

Author's Note:  I know that this has been done a million times before, but I think my story is a little different.  See, I was thinking about how John was hunting the Shtriga and he knew what it was (Dean see’s his research on the table) and yet the Shtriga manages to get into their motel room.  I think John would have made sure his boys would be

Great piece of introspective fic. I really like how John has reacted to the situation. It echoes how Dean reacts to things and we can see where he got it from.

But Dean, he is some poor messed up guy.

I liked that a lot. I hated John for the way he reacted to the Striga incident and the ridiculous burden he placed on Dean's shoulders. I'm glad you've gone for it and have him realising it's all his own fault. Yet even then, the only way he can deal with Dean's pain is to get angry. Will the man never learn?

Yeah, we all know John isn't the perfect father (not by a long shot!) but I didn't like the way this epsiode left him so I swung it a bit! Glad you liked it!

I don't think anyone should ever be discouraged from writing about a scene or an ep just because it has inspired other writers, and this is a great example why! I loved your reasoning for why John looked at Dean differently and how he felt guilty himself.

Good job! I had always wondered how the Striga got into the room.
And of course John would guilt himself over this and mask it with anger. What IS it with these Winchesters?
On a different topic, Holy smoke! your font is small! To read a longer piece would kill my eyes. Could you bump it up a notch or two??

I was actually in Ottawa when I started thinking about that episode and then I was like, "wait, John was hunting something that went after children, yet it somehow got to Sammy...What the hell!?" and the fic was born. About the font, I will definitely make it bigger, thanks for letting me know!

I liked this. It rings so true of the whole relationship between Dean and John. John is a loving father, but the both of them are so closed off most of the time. It was awful of John to put that weight on Dean's shoulders, yet it was easy to see why he'd do it as well. Interesting fic.

(By the by, there are a few little typos in there such as "Dean who hadn’t thought spoken for almost six months after..")
