Once in a Blue Moon

Tonaja had been off-duty, preparing things for her wedding.

Between the quake and the shattered guard tower, she was now very much on-duty.

Taking to the skies, she flew in the direction of the smoldering wreckage, shouting for the people below to proceed calmly and orderly to a safe location.

Nahrees had been on duty and suddenly found herself scrambling with the other guards. "What in Randac's name just hit us!?" when she took to the figurative skies it was with bolts of electricity. Fueled by the city itself.

Her fist thought was it had to be the Humans. They had finally come.

Tonaja noted Nahrees' approach, but only to acknowledge that she had back-up. As much as she didn't like the other guard, she couldn't afford to be choosy about her allies.

"Who's attacking us?" she asked, in case someone in the tower had been able to report in before it had been destroyed.

Information traveled fast among the Inhumans. Their telepaths could be thanked for that, and Nahrees now knew that her first assumption was wrong. A pity.

She would've liked to electrocute some humans that weren't her terrestrial boyfriend plaything.

"The reports say Thanos, think you can handle this fight, Tonaja?"

Luna was asleep. When she slept it was almost like the dead. She was dreaming one of those odd dreams that didn't really make any sense. Running through a field of flowers that changed color all the time.

When Lockjaw jumped in front of her and opened his mouth it sounded like nothing she had ever heard before.

She shot awake to the sound of Alarms.

The alarms never went off. She almost fell out of bed, the blue and white sheets tangled around her feet and went looking for her shoes. This wasn't right. This was very, very not right. But if something was going on, she did have to be a big girl about it.

There were her shoes. And then her room shook.

Alaris ran to the little princess's room, not bothering to knock before flinging the door open.

"Princess Luna, I am here to escort you to safety! Please forgive me!" Alaris said before reaching out to grab her.

"Why you!?" she said, finally managing to put her shoes on. Why did it have to be the stupid one!?

"What's going on?! Where's Mother?!" she demanded. In the 'I'm a Princess and You Had Better Damn Well Obey me tone.

"Many apologies your highness!" Alaris flung the girl over his shoulder and made for the door. "We are under attack and it is not safe here!"

He sat near the door of his cell. He had been warning them about this for weeks. Maybe even months. Time lost all meaning down here with so little to keep him company. There to escort/save/die with him or not, he felt little pity for the crushed Inhumans.

"Ooops," was all he said. "They should've been so much more careful. I did warn them."

When Little Luna slid down the rocks he smiled. Wasn't this just perfect? Things did often work out for the best, he said, considering. Now, if only he had a hat.

"Well, Little Cousin, how are you?"

The flickering lights made this all seem really surreal for Luna but she stood there calmly anyway. It wasn't like she hadn't talked to him before, on multiple times.

"We're being attacked. It really isn't prudent to ask how I am," she said. It was funny how things happened. Not so soon after watching two humans attack Grandfather, some crazy whatever he was, was attacking Attilan. "I know about the stuff you did too, and I don't think you're a good person anymore but if you stay down here you're going to get crushed to death. And I don't think that's right either. You're not bad. Just...wrong. About some things. Not about everything," she said, proud of her little speech.

"That would explain the flashing lights and falling rocks, wouldn't it?" he said, resting his head on a had as he sent right behind the door to his cell. He could've reached through the bars, if there weren't other things there. "So, I'm bad? I suppose I could be bad, but that would make you bad too," he pointed out, smiling lightly.

Things were coming together now. He could taste revenge, it was so close.

"So, did you come down here to talk with me, or are we going somewhere?" he asked, curious like a cat. There was a Cheshire cat dancing in that tone, with that grin on his face.

"I came to make sure at least someone was here so you didn't get crushed to death by rocks," Luna said. It was luck or fate that the person who was still half out of the rocks but had died by now had keys in their hand. It took a lot of effort to pull them free, but she did. She knew she'd need the keycards.

Because there were some passcodes even she didn't know.

"You can't stay in here. The ceiling is falling apart. Since they're dead, I'll take you somewhere. I mean, I do know where there are a couple of old shelters no one will really be in," she said, walking over to the lock. She suddenly had a lot of butterflies in her stomach as she held up the keycard. Like second thoughts.

And something her Father told her crept in the back of her mind, but she ignored it. It wasn't right to let her Crazy Uncle die like this. If Uncle Blackbolt had wanted Uncle Maximus dead he would be. End of story. So someone had to save him.

She slid the keycard and stopped. It needed a code. She frowned.

The Inhuman Royal Family gathers quickly in the face of threats to Attilan. The approach of Thanos, a well-known interstellar threat, warrants their full attention.

Black Bolt, their stalwart king, marches forward, to the outskirts of their secluded lunar nation, determined to meet this menace head-on.

Gorgon follows his king with devotion, growling in anger about this intrusion while marshaling security forces to protect the noncombatant citizens from imminent danger.

Crystal was right on the front lines, unleashing the elements with all of the ferocity nature could have. She worried for Luna's sake, but if there was one thing she was absolutely certain she could trust Pietro with, it was finding Luna and taking her somewhere safe. He had failed in some ways as a father, but she trusted him with that. He was also improving, simply by being around for as long as he had. She'd give credit where credit was due. Or at least, she'd do that once she wasn't occupied by a battle to save her home.

"The first representative of the Royal Family to meet me - little Crystal. I suppose you'll do for an opening overture."

Thanos is advancing through the city at a deliberate pace, each measured step taking him closer to the heart of Attilan as the elements rage around him. His path doesn't deviate by so much as an inch.

"You may wish to go fetch the king - he and I need to have words."

A hand stretches out, firing an energy blast aimed at Crystal's feet - a warning shot that could potentially cripple her if her reflexes aren't swift enough.

She is not alone on the front lines. The rest of the Royal Family has arrived, and it is no surprise that the first attacker is Gorgon, striking while he is distracted by Crystal and aiming to kick at the face of this creature who dares attack sovereign Attilan.
