Running Away

Mar 29, 2007 19:09

Victor paces in the base. They've been lying low for some time now, and he's getting antsy. Everyone's been growing stir-crazy, using the backup base the way they've been, and Victor in particular has been eager to get out again to do some good. This whole thing with the Underage Vigilante Law has made him feel helpless while watching the news ( Read more... )

He's never been the best at expecting stealth and general sneaking around, but he's quick to react to the alert. Within seconds of the boy shouting, the Thunder God responds, rushing towards as quickly as Victor is running away. "I know not what madness has possessed SHIELD, but Thor says enow!"
Typically this is accompanied by a hammer throw, but for now, he settles for a headlong charge.

The agents scatter like tenpins struck by a bowling ball.

"The license fees on my van go to this?!"

Oh, yeah, already on the way - and wanting to get to the guns.

"Pack the kids, honeybunch! We're headed for Congress!"

The SHIELD Agents are no match for the God of Thunder.

Fortunately, they brought some back-up.

The next figure Thor encounters should look familiar. It's Stark's Thorbuster Iron Man Armor he encountered not long ago.

"Thor. Stand Down."

The voice coming from it, though? Definitely not Stark.

Does he care about the voice? Nope. All that superhero shit is about as useless as the West Coast Avengers trying to take their folks outta town. That really worked.

Full volley of whatever the Frog's got that Chase can access at Tank Boy.

This armor was buit to stand up the God of Thunder.

The Leapfrog falls well short of that kind of firepower.

The only reaction from Iron Man is folding his arms in a not amused gesture.

"And let SHIELD injure these youths!? Nay, and Nay again!" he calls, sweeping through agents to leap at the armor. If he had his hammer, this would be over. Hurricane winds do much better for dealing with lines of people than wading through them, but he knows Tony would have just followed it back.
Seems they found them anyway. And even without his hammer, he's still the Lord of Storms, and he's not about to let any Earthly technology, Stark tech or not, show him up when there's no Hercules and Gilgamesh to back it up.

Unfortunately, its impossible to both battle the massive armor, and still give the kids any added cover.

Anole's left them behind, gone out alone, and that makes her nervous. Network's gone all trace-like, which makes her nervous. Besides, she doesn't know them well. Laurie feels swept up by unknowns and left behind without a plan. She turned to Sofia, look uneasy, "This isn't good. Should we... go after him, or something?" She knew that he'd told them to stay here, but... Well, she really did want to help, and what if Victor wasn't enouh by himself?

"Yes." Sofia stood and took out the image inducer. "We should be ready to use this, we may have to act quickly. Do you think you can control your powers?" She skipped the word pheromone. She still had trouble pronouncing it.

Laurie swallowed, Sofia was so sure of everything that it was almost scary, in itself. She followed her, though, pulling her own gifted inducer from her pocket. She nodded at the question, lips pressed together, "Yeah." That, however, was slightly a lie. The real answer would've been 'I hope so'.

Victor is trying hard to get to the fallen Karolina, but it's difficult with the amount of agents in the base, firing weapons at him. He's avoiding any serious damage, but he's also making remarkably little progress. It's incredibly frustrating.

Meanwhile, in the Leapfrog, not much is coming from the shots he's firing. These assholes have some sort of body armor and they keep having his team and the mutants between them and the Frog's guns.

"Dudes, they are hearding you guys! Scatter!"

That open Frog hatch?

There are two agents in Mandroid armor taking advantage of it right now.

And before Chase can react, they use their repulsorbeams to throw him out of the Frog, and into the rest of the fight.

The Mandroids trying to pursue the kids find their path blocked by the Thorbuster Iron Man armor. The good news for them, its just gone ten rounds with the God of Thunder, and looks it. There are multiple dents and tears, with sparks flying out of a few of them.

The bad news, though, was it the armor was built to go twelve rounds, so there plenty of fight left in it, and its pilot, Jim Rhodes.

"What in the hell do you think you're doing?"

"You let the children get away," one of the mandroids replies. "Stand down now or face the consequences."

"Your men were going to kill one of the children. You're going to give me answers, and they will be good ones."

'Or else' doesn't need to be said.

"Yes," the mandroid states. "And we prepared that you would turn on us like this."

Earlier, unseen by War Machine, they had slipped something onto the armor. A small device... which is now activated.

And, if it was designed properly, has already analyzed the power systems of the suit and can counter it, completely locking the suit down.
