“It was the spring of 1958. It was over in ‘Frisco, where the FBI went to one of their best West Coast agents to tell him President Eisenhower was kidnapped.”
He takes a sip of water. “They knew Jimmy Woo was the man for the job. Man had a nearly perfect record. He was practically a boy scout.”
He’d have mentioned how he should’ve been made a freaking national hero, but that wasn’t what they were interested in.
“Now, there’s only one reason you’d turn to Jimmy Woo."
“No one had more experience with the Yellow Claw. Claw was a nutcase with a capital nut, and probably would’ve started World War III if he had the chance."
“Now he’d gone and done something really big, and no one knew what he was going to demand in exchange for Ike’s return. Or if he was even going to return him.”
He allows himself to smile at the next part.
“They granted Jimmy the power to build a small but powerful team.”
“Jimmy knew he had to move quickly, with as few people in the loop as possible. He decided to call on a couple big shots first.
“He found 3D man, first. Guy was a bit of an ass, but he was good at what he did. Triple strength, triple speed, triple vision…triple everything but tact.”
Not that he could really talk, but whatever.
“Then there was Marvel Boy. I’m sure you guys remember him. Human kid, grew up on Uranus, had a bunch of alien technology. He was basically our super-geek. And our ride, since he had an awesome spaceship.
“There was also Venus. She was…um…well, she was a goddess. She could turn anyone, man or woman, into a drooling idiot with her ‘power of love.’”
He shrugs. “Guess Jimmy wanted some non-lethal options.

“24 hours later and we’re all storming a fortress in Outer Mongolia. None of us had ever met, but Woo had us working like a ten year team. Good God, you should have seen it.”

Outer Mongolia, 1958.
Just outside of the Yellow Claw's fortress, the battle raged on.
Bob was dealing with the air support while M-11 was busy taking out Claw's tanks.
Ken and Hal were fighting the waves upon waves of infantry that were pouring out of the fortress. They looked like they were having fun.
Further back, Jimmy Woo was leading Venus through the fighting, waiting for the right moment to use her powers.
It seemed like they were starting to push Yellow Claw's forces back.

Marvel Boy flies above the crowd, blinding opponents with his solar-powered wristbands. Helicopters and planes won't do much good if the pilots can't see their opponents.
He's doing his best not to look too much at Venus. He's not really been around many women in his life -- the immortal Uranian Eternals notwithstanding -- and the goddess has a particularly profound effect on his 22-year-old body.
The world needs him now. His... strange feelings... for Venus will have to wait.

"That's twelve! Top that!" he yells over at Ken, taunting him even as they battle their way through an unending supply of troops. He ducks under a sword strike, kicking his foe in the stomach and sending the guy flying thanks to his triple strength. "Thirteen!"
The others are already inside, Hal one of the last to come through. Well, Chuck to be precise but it's hard to keep track sometimes. He doesn't even realize he is walking right into Great Video's line of sight.
"But 3D is much more fun," Chuck quips as he performs a diving roll to the side, trying to get out of the line of sight. If not for his triple endurance and stamina? He'd be a colorful smudge over there. He grabs a piece of rubble during the roll, throwing it in the direction of Great Video's head as he starts to run toward his foe.
The Great Video's powers are deadly, but he was previously a stage magician, not a fighter. The rubble smacks him in the face, and he falls to the ground, not moving save for his chest slowly rising and falling with his breath.
The others were busy fighting, and Jimmy had a job to do. Hoping that all the villains that were there had come out to play, Woo ran at a steady pace through the building, gun at the ready.
"Herr Woo," the voice of Voltzmann echoes through the halls, "I believe it is time for you to meet my Shadow Warriors. I do not think you will be able to kill them -- after all, they are no longer alive, though they once were..."
"The group operated for another six months. Then someone higher up decreed we be disbanded, our mission logs classified--with some hoo-hah about how the country 'wasn't ready' for a group like us yet. Maybe that was true. I dunno.
"Last year, when I came to work in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 'Irregular Ops' section, it made me feel a little like I was back with Woo and the gang. But really, nothing compares.
"So that's what I remember."
He takes a sip of water before speaking again.
"Now, are you guys going to turn off the voice distorter and come out from behind the glass like grown-ups?"
He smirks slightly.
"I know one of you is Dugan."
He expects whatever they have to say to him is going to definitely be of interest.

“She did, however, give Jimmy something he could use. She knew of someone-or, I guess you could say something, rather-that could go in her place.”

As is normal, not a word, not a sound comes from him during all the carnage he unleashes.

The x-rays of his gaze tear through Chuck's body. A normal person would nearly be dead by now.
"X-rays are far more powerful than 3D vision," the Video taunts.

"Marvel Boy!" He yelled into the communicator in his watch. "Get in here FAST!"

Ken sits back as his little flashback winds down.
