Teen Heroes Draw Praise and Criticism
By Daily Bugle reporter Kat Farrell
New York    Over the past several weeks, New Yorkers have reported seeing a team of teenaged vigilantes, with costumes reminiscent of various Avengers.  But their resemblance to Avengers do not seem limited to their costumes, but also extend to their powers.  From the armored ( Read more... )

He doesn't need caffeine. He's hyper enough without it.

Not that it ever stops him from getting a cup every once in awhile.

Tommy leans forward on the table, brushing his white-blonde hair out of his eyes as she reads the paper with interest.

Henh. No prisoners escaped.

The press really needs to work on doing their homework.

It wasn't the ex-con thing, as that place they broke him out of was way shady, but something about the guy felt hinky.

Everybody deserves a chance or two though, so Teddy went ahead and placed the call. Besides, it'd be good to check in with him, and make sure everything was going well.

"Talk to me," Tommy said, flipping open his silver phone. He didn't recognize the number, but he figured that was okay. If anyone had it, it had to be someone who knew him since his recent little bust out.

"Talk to me"? How Left Coast of him.

"Hey, it's Ted," he said, a little awkwardly, but inviting, "Did'ja get a chance to see the Bugle yet?"

Streamers? Check.

Stereo? Check.

Lights and a disco ball? Check.

Punch, not spiked? Check.

A gigantic magic'd banner praising the "Young Avengers?" Check.

The front page of the Daily Bugle magically blown up and pasted on a wall? Check.

This will be the greatest teen-superhero party in the history of teen-superhero parties.

Bring your own costume.

Young Avengers Warehouse?

Is that what they're gonna call this place?

Coz, wow. Lame.

Tommy runs a hand through his silky white-blonde hair before throwing open the doors and walking in.

He sort of hopes that Kate Bishop's gonna be there.

Billy just stops in his tracks for a minute.

It's not that he doesn't like Tommy. For a potential criminal, he's pretty cool.

It's just that he's like a mirror with highlights. White-blondish-highlights.

It doesn't last too long, though, before he's all smiles and celebrations again.

"Speed! You made it! Awesome!"

Tommy comes to a screeching halt at the sound of his codename.

For a split second, he thought Billy meant the drug. Not that Tommy did drugs, but yeah. He'd had some friends who dabbled in it for awhile.

He looks Billy up and down. It's eerie. The guy could be a mirror image of Tommy's. You know, with darker hair and a better haircut?

"Hey," Tommy says, nodding at Billy. "I like what you've done with the place. It's very Studio 54 meets Mile High Comics." He's only a little sarcastic.

He's seen it. He photocopied it, and then he thought collecting this shit might very well be asking for Grandma and Gramps to find out about his increased "study," time.

He still wants to keep it. His family has waited too long for recognition. For now, he's stuffed it in his pocket and is going to...meet someone so he can keep this up. Then his cell rings halfway there.

"Eli."

"Hey, Eli. You busy?" Of all the Young Avengers Eli probably had the busiest schedule.

The person he's meeting? Not the type the guys need to know about...especially not Kate...becuase, you know.

"Sort of, kind of, bro...What's going on?"

'Bro,' that's cute.

"I was just calling to see if you were busy tonight. Billy's throwing a party down at the warehouse to celebrate the...," it had just struck him that Eli might not have seen the article.

"Oh! Hey, did you see the article on us in the Bugle today?" He tried not to sound too eager.

Billy's been having a lot of fun egging Eli Kate and Tommy on, but it's time for him to spend less time in their love lives and more in his own.

Teddy's been mostly quiet for this whole thing, so it's time to liven it up.

There's pizza and punch shoved in the blonde's face and a smile on his boyfriend's.

Teddy has been pretty quiet this evening, but that's his way. Nobody knows how to draw him out quite like Billy does, however.

He gets a one-armed, around the waist hug, and a peck on the cheek before tall, fair, and green takes the punch. He's not really hungry enough for pizza's just now. "Hey, hon," he flashes a perfect, white smile at billy, "I like what you've done with the place."

Teeth that almost have to be because of shape-shifting. No one has that perfect kind of grin naturally.

"I was channeling my inner Mizrahi. Except for the part where I'm much, much cuter."

Teddy shifted back down to his normal, human form, and nodded out towards an emptier portion of the warehouse.

"You wanna dance, maybe?" They hadn't had much time together lately, outside of heroing. There were pressures from school, from friends, and the fact that neither of them had come out to their parents yet (about either the YA, or the other thing).

There was no time restriction on the party, but Cassie knew it was over judging by various members of the Young Avengers saying goodbye, one after the other, saying they needed to go home until it was just her and Iron Lad. She sighed and looked at her watch. Yep, definitely time to go home.

"Want me to walk you home again?" Iron Lad smiled at her, shifting his armor to a more inconspicuous t-shirt and jeans.

Cassie's heart pace quickened. She smiled back. "Sure, thanks. Er, hold on." She took off her Stature mask. "I'll be right back. No holograms for me."

Cassie didn't think she'd ever changed clothes so fast.

Nathan was waiting for her when she came out. He grins at her, and rubs the back of his neck with his hand.

"Um... so... you haven't mentioned having a boyfriend or anything."
