Great work! :) I remember reading not too long ago that apparently the smell released by freshly cut grass is actually a warning to other, nearby grass, which sounded to me so sad and futile. Your trees here remind me of that, but I like that, at least in this particular corner of whatever world they're in, the people and the trees are able to connect. It's a little more hopeful than just the idea of the trees communicating amongst each other, crying out when hit with an axe and the other trees knowing the pain but not being able to do anything about it.
