A little poll for your Friday afternoon amusement.

So this week's fannish5 asked about fanvids, which naturally made me think about Supernatural (what else is new?) and how we're just about getting to that point in the season where Kripke might start putting fanvids in front of episodes again. Therefore, a poll.

I went with BOC, mainly because they tend toward American acts, and I think the only post-1980 song they've done is "Strange Face of Love," so that's two strikes against "Brothers in Arms" and one against "Gimme Shelter." Plus "Shelter" is used a lot, and they've tended toward less common fare. (Of course, the same can be said for "Knockin' on Heaven's Door"......) For that matter, they'll never ever top the use of "Brothers in Arms" on The West Wing.

As for "Riders..." I can see them using it during an episode, but it's too languid a song for a "previously on..." with all its quick-cuts.

Speaking of not topping, I don't see how they can overcome the use of "Time has Come Today" in "Everybody Loves a Clown," which was perfection.....

Well, they used "Laugh, I Nearly Died" back in "Bloody Mary," so the Stones aren't completely ruled out, but you're right that older American acts have the advantage. Personally, I'm also going with BOC just 'cause I think that song would be so perfect.

My own favorite so far is "Carry On, Wayward Son," but that may be just because it was the first. "Time has Come Today" was definitely a terrific choice, and I loved how they used it.

Well, I don't think you're full of crap, but there's room to speculate about songs. *g* I figure that they'll do Gimme Shelter for personal reasons. So far, they've beaten me to the punch for a vid by using the song in an ep about five times. And it's the Stones. The greatest opening riffs in rock. I wouldn't be surprised to see it open the finale. I wouldn't be surprised to see When the Levee Breaks, either, if they could afford it. *sigh*

It would totally rock if they got a Zeppelin tune, but I hear the rights to their songs can be tough to get.

Okay, I went a bit quirky in the poll answers for fun, but realistically speaking I know they'll probably go for more mullet rock or classic rock.

Hmmm. Janis Joplin, maybe? Alternately I'd love The Who's "Baba O'Riley," even only the opening bars, but "The Punk and the Godfather" might work. For Stones, I think "Paint It Black" could be good.

I actually considered listing "Paint it Black" as an option instead of "Give Me Shelter," but decided that "Shelter's" lyrics would be more appropriate. They'd both be excellent choices, though.

I'd love to see them use Janis, just because they really haven't used enough women rockers so far. I'm kinda holding out for Joan Jett myself.

Given that "Baba O'Riley" is used by CSI: NY, and given that the original CSI is Supernatural's primary competition, I don't see that happening any time soon....

(Besides, the fact that The Who is used for all three CSIs may well have driven their price way beyond what a CW show can afford....)

Yeah, I think "Riders" has a nice, creepy tone that would work well. Plus, they recently used "The Crystal Ship" in BUABS, so we know The Doors are a possibility.

Of course in reality, Kripke will probably use something that hasn't been mentioned in this poll at all, and it will be perfectly appropriate and make everyone squee. :-)
