Naruto Fic: Lords and Ladies, Chapter 1 (Sasuke/Hinata/Gaara, Cast)

Normally, I wouldn't bother to put this fic up on LJ since it's only one of many ridiculous little projects that I started writing mostly to have a decent creative outlet in the midst of of a very, very stressful period in my life. But somehow, this silly little plot bunny sunk its teeth deep into me and doesn't seem willing to let up anytime soon

I'm very glad you enjoyed this fic and I hope you keep reading! (There'll be another update soon by the weekend, I hope.) I have a feeling it'll rapidly go over the top since I keep playing with the idea of stacking so many ridiculous love triangles on poor Hinata that she'll be beyond pear-shaped at the end of the day. And yet-- damn, writing a soap opera (or possibly a parody of a soap opera?) is ridiculously fun. If I knew how much silly awesomeness it was, I would have given up serious fic a long time ago.

And for Sasuke, evil weasels had to be involved somewhere. They simply had to. There was no other way! XD

Hee. :) I just read the second chapter. It continues to make me laugh, yet at the same time I'm feeling bad for Hinata and her situation. I'm appreciating the fact that you know it's crack and you're not attempting to play it off as anything else. If there's more than one love triangle that's connect, do they join together and become a different shape?

Oh wow. Thank you for going to the trouble of reading Chapter 2 as well! I'm afraid I have a terrible kink for placing good people in hopeless situations and between her husband, her various suitors, her family, her in-laws and god knows what else could come up, Hinata's not about to have an easy to time of it. This fic is crack and unapologetically so-- but I like the idea of occasionally sneaking a few real emotions into the wisecracks. It makes things more interesting for me as a writer.

I'm not sure what more than one love triangle connects in but I do know that throwing Hinata in the midst of it will be hilarious. She might seem so timid patient on the face of things but I have a feeling that if you push her hard enough, she'll more than push back...

I love your Hinata voice. It really draws me into the story and lets me know how horrifying - amusingly! sexily! horrifying - things can get. And hee Hinata's Hyuuga sense.

I can't quite contain my evil glee that I've managed to rope not one but two non-Naruto fans into reading this! This being a soap opera, of course, you don't really need to know much more beyond Girl 1 being in a sideways relationship with Boy 1 (and eventually Boy 2 and Boy 3 and Boy 4 and onwards into further heights of deliriously silly absurdity...)

But even beyond that, I'm glad Hinata's voice drew you in! She's fun to write in that she's so much shyer and more... not innocent, I don't think, considering her canonical job is to kill people for a living. But she's far more reserved than the usual female characters I write so writing her even vaguely in character-- while preserving her quiet persistence-- was a nice challenge to tackle on. And I'm glad I managed to make it amusing!

Crazed weasels = win, especially when combined with Sasuke's backstory. And I had a ridiculous amount of fun writing something that got to be purposely ridiculous. This is like the Ugly Betty of fanfic, or something. XD

(And I'm still thrilled at the fact that someone who doesn't even read Naruto read this. Hee!)

I really hope you continue this fic, because honestly? I can't wait to see how Gaara will fit into such a sparkly, fabulously ridiculous universe. My brain spasms just picturing it. ^_^

Thank you for reading and reviewing! It's always nice to see new faces pop up in my LJ. ;) And I'm still fiddling and tinkering with the Gaara bits, especially the question of how on earth to make his oodles of trauma hilarious. Sasuke always has his Emo Avenger quotient to exploit but Gaara? I was thinking something along the lines of comparing him to a plank of wood with a lot of nails nails hidden in the back-- but oddly, that's also something that would suit Sasuke.

Clearly, Hinata has a certain type of man that's interested in her within this story!

And chapter 2 is out, btw. With luck, Chapter 3 will come by the weekend and then we'll really get into the wing of things with an appearance from everyone's favorite Crazed Weasel of the Sharingan'd variety...
