1ST JANUARY 2008
Kevin moans as Scotty pushes even deeper inside of him. His fingers hold on tightly to the sheets, his soft needy noises are in sync with Scotty’s thrusts. Scotty’s lips are on his skin, his kisses only arousing Kevin even more. Scotty’s hand is on his cock, but it is only stimulating Kevin to the point of more hardness, but he doesn’t allow Kevin to find satisfaction.
It is the prolonged, sensual, exquisite torture that Scotty practices so well on him and that he likes so much. He is so close and he knows that soon enough he’ll be begging Scotty to let him go and he also knows that Scotty will let him, because Scotty is equally close to losing himself.
An annoying noise next to the bed, interrupts their love-making however. Once... twice... a third time.
“I’m not here.” Kevin moans, pushing back against Scotty with a silent request to resume where he had stopped.
“That ring-tone of yours is extremely irritating.” Scotty breaths heavily, close to his ear and Kevin shivers with the lust that he feels coursing through him.
“Complain to me later. Not now.” He begs, his words ending in a sigh as Scotty thrusts again.
Six.... Seven... Eight... Nine....
“Damn it, don’t you get the message by ten times?” Kevin moans, grabbing his phone with a frown. “Mom.” He reads. He angrily clicks away his mother’s call and switches of his phone. “Now, where were we?” He then smiles, feeling fortunate that Scotty has such a good memory.

“I do hope Kevin is alright. I don’t think I can handle more tragedies today.” Nora sobs and Sarah gives her one of the paper tissues.
“Maybe he just got lucky last night. Or terribly drunk... Or both. And he just wasn’t in the mood to talk to someone.”
“Maybe.” Nora concedes, still crying softly.
“Did you talk to Tommy?”
“Yes, he’s picking up Julia from the airport, she spent Christmas and New Year with her parents in Arizona. Tommy didn’t go with her. He dislikes her father.”
“He hates his father-in-law, mom.” Sarah cannot help but grin, in spite of the severity of today’s news.
“And Kitty?”
“Kitty? Asked it was really necessary for her to come all the way here.”
“Fawn is dead! It is her funeral!”
“Yes, but she hardly knew the girl, she said. It would so disrupt her schedules, she said.”
“Justin is devastated. He is her brother. Isn’t that more important than a schedule?”
“Not to Kitty.... And it’s not that I completely disagree with her...” Nora’s last words make Sarah look up.
“Because...?”
“Well, flying all the way from New York for someone she doesn’t know... I get it. But she was so heartless about it.”
“Heartless?”
“Yes, I mean, in a way she’s right. She doesn’t know Fawn, she didn’t go through the things that we went through with Justin and later on Fawn. She doesn’t half of what happened here. Was she ever here when Justin staggered in drunk? Or when he’d been smoking something bad? Or when Fawn nearly killed herself and Justin with that drug-overdose?
Does Kitty even know? So I guess I can understand the practically of it. It’s just... the way she asked if she really had to come here. So bored, so disinterested. A bit more like ‘couldn’t she have died at a more convenient time?’ How inconsiderate of her to not take Kitty’s time-table into account, before burning to death....”
“She didn’t burn to death. She inhaled toxic fumes. They killed her before the flames reached her.”
“Oh, Justin, honey, what are you doing out of bed?... How inconsiderate of me to be talking like that about poor Fawn... It’s just...” Nora flaps her hands, unable to express herself.
“Thanks, mom, but under the circumstances maybe it’s better if I don’t see Kitty. She isn’t the warmest sibling....”
“How are you feeling? Is there anything we can do for you?” Sarah asks, concerned about Justin’s paleness and his shaking hands. Justin shakes his head.
“Is Kevin coming back?” He asks eagerly and Sarah feels a bit annoyed. The moment she heard about Fawn, she came immediately to her mother’s house.
Kevin however cannot even bother to pick up the phone. But as quickly as the sting of jealousy shows up, as quickly it disappears again. Justin was close to Kevin. In fact, they were all close to Kevin. Kevin was the person to turn to in times of troubles. So, perhaps she shouldn’t be so jealous that Justin needs Kevin.
*****
“Oh, my God.... When? How?.... How’s Justin dealing with it? .... Yeah... Yeah... Should I return to LA sooner? I mean, if Justin needs me....?” Scotty’s eyes follow Kevin across the room. Kevin’s agitated words worry him. What happened? He remembers Justin and his rough friendliness.
“I’ll see what I can do. ... Yes, I’ll make some phone calls... Talk to you later. Take care of Justin. Bye...” Kevin sits down on the chair across from Scotty.
“Justin... Do you remember his girlfriend Fawn? She was at dad’s party?”
“Yes. Pretty girl, dark hair, seemed a bit lost, she didn’t really make contact with anyone.”
“She... She died on New Year’s Eve. There was a fire at their apartment...”
“Oh. I’m sorry... Is your brother alright?”
“Define: alright. He wasn’t there when it happened. She was depressed over her brother and didn’t want to go to the party at Mom’s house. She talked Justin into going. They think she got drunk, fell asleep and knocked over a candle.”
“She burnt to death? Oh, my god, that’s terrible!”
“No. She died of the toxic fumes. She was still untouched by the flames when they found her.”
“And Justin?”
“Justin came home later than he expected, but it wouldn’t have made a difference anyway, according to the police.” Scotty feels shocked and unsure how to deal with Kevin. He has no siblings, his own relationship with his parents is ice-cold, so he cannot really grasp the impact on Kevin.
“What will we do now? Are we leaving earlier?”
“No. We were supposed to fly back on Thursday. Her funeral is on Friday. We will be on time. At least, I will be....”
“You’ll go alone?”
“Yes. I don’t think that a funeral is the appropriate time to settle a score with my dad. Furthermore, I’d like to keep this to myself for a little longer. I’m sorry for Justin, I will miss Fawn, but at the same time, for the first time in a long time, I’m happy. And it’s because of you and I want to hold on to that feeling just a little bit longer.
And I feel I should be able to focus on Justin. Justin needs his family united, not divided. Not now.... I mean, telling them now, wouldn’t serve a purpose, it would make no difference to us. Telling them that I plan to make you my life-partner, won’t make them accept you as part of my life, as a part of me.
Why can’t we just hold on to our love and keep that safe for now, without outside interference from people who couldn’t care less about our happiness, but are only concerned about the inconvenience it will bring to their lives?”
“You don’t have to defend yourself. It’s your family. Whatever you think we should do, I’ll follow.”
“I don’t want you think that I am not proud of you, or trying to hide you or that I’m embarrassed about you.... Quite the opposite, I want to shout out to the entire world how happy I am that you will be my husband. It’s just.... who cares? It will bring more grief and protest, than congratulations. Why put ourselves through it, now that we are happy?”
“Kevin, sweetheart, I don’t want it broadcasted all over the world. The only person who really needs to know is me. As long as you really love me, I’ll be fine.” Scotty smiles gently.
“Breaking news: Kevin Walker is madly, passionately, completely and utterly in love with Scotty Wandell.” Kevin now jokes in a low voice, making Scotty laugh.
“I heard CNN confirmed that Scotty Wandell has admitted to being equally deeply in love with Kevin Walker.” Scotty smiles.
“And if CNN confirms it...”
“... Then it has to be true.” Scotty kisses Kevin and Kevin makes the kiss linger a little longer.
“I’m not in the mood to... you know.” Kevin then says.
“I get that. Come here. Just let me hold you.” Scotty takes Kevin into his arms and with a sigh Kevin lets his head rest on Scotty’s chest, feeling slightly guilty that he is so happy with Scotty, while his brother is mourning the loss of Fawn..
