Scotty opens his eyes. He doesn’t know what woke him up, but he’s suddenly wide awake. He tries to move, but Kevin is draped all over him and holds him stuck in his place. A smile starts to spread across Scotty’s face. They are married…! He can’t believe it. He can feel the ring around his finger.. Alright, it is Robert McCallister’s ring, but…. it stands for the commitment Kevin made to him.
There is little light in the room, but he can see Kevin lying next to him.
“We’re married.” He says softly, but in the silence of the room it suddenly sounds very loud. Kevin lifts his head.
“I know. Isn’t it great?” Kevin replies with a huge grin.
“Did I wake you?”
“No, not really. I’ve been drifting in and out sleep for a while now. I’m too excited to sleep. I’m too tired to stay awake, if that makes any sense. I keep going over everything in my mind… Was everything as you dreamed it would be?” Kevin asks.
Scotty thinks about the answer for a few seconds.
“No, not really… It was better than anything my imagination conjured up.” He replies with a soft smile. He sure never expected Kevin to go the extra mile and go look for his parents. He never expected to wear his father’s cufflinks. He had never expected the room filled with flowers. He never expected the happy faces he met, when they got congratulated. Justin, Nora. All of them had been genuinely pleased... Pleased they got married. And he can’t believe that Kevin is his now.
“I can’t believe you’re mine.” Kevin sighs amazed. Scotty chuckles and feeling Kevin tense up, he immediately realizes that Kevin feels laughed at for being so open and he quickly says:
“You read my mind, I was just thinking exactly the same thing about you.” Kevin relaxes and suddenly they are both giggling and eventually laughing out loud at the silly conversation they are having.
“Tell me that from now on, things stay like this. Just as it is now…” Kevin says, out of breath.
“Can’t. But I promise you I will try to make you feel like this every day for the rest of my life.”
“Then I will return the favor and try to make you as happy as possible too…. And if I don’t, you have the right to clobber me over the head.” Kevin promises
“Tell me, Mr Lawyer, can I get that black on white? To avoid my getting sued…” Scotty grins.
“No, you cannot.” Kevin laughs, tapping Scotty gently on the nose with his finger.
Scotty makes a movement and Kevin lets him go and Scotty turns on his side so he’s face to face with Kevin…
“We’re married.” Scotty states with a happy smile.
“Yeah, we’re married.” Kevin replies, before taking Scotty in his arms to kiss him. Scotty returns the tenderness and in each other’s arms they enjoy their wedding night…. Once again…
