It does seem like a few people are returning to LJ from FB. My concern with this is that the nature of LJ has changed. Some years ago, LJ was a place where we dared to share our lives, the good and the bad. We trusted each other as there was very little spamming and nastiness. I don't write here very often. There are so few of my friends from the past that are still here and I do have some contacts on FaceBook. Since my wife died (last November), I have been adjusting to the bachelor life. Have rearranged some of the rooms in the house to be less crowded and more to my liking. My wife died on Nov 20th in the hospital. She was having breathing problems and heart fibrillation. Ultimately her heart stopped beating. All my family came here to give support. And, now I am taking care of various notifications and learning to live alone. I'm doing pretty well. We were married 63 years and had an interesting and fun life together ( Read more... )

Beautiful fall weather the past few days here just off Cape Cod. Bought two more bird feeders in the hope of finding ones that squirrels can't get into. I've been taking jazz piano lessons for a year and really enjoy it. I have 6-7 books of jazz arrangements of the old time music from my youth (1930-1940. We lived in NY only 3 miles from the famous Woodstock for over 30 years. One of our great delights was a group of restaurants. There was the Little Bear (Chinese gourmet) in Woodstock where my favorite dish was Hunan Shredded Pork with Black Bean sauce. Have some new friends so will try to establish a base point. Worked for IBM for many years and retired in 1990 thanks to a good retirement deal. Just celebrated our 63rd wedding anniversary. Have had a great summer with many of the family visiting and more to come. We've upgraded our double wide mobile home with a new roof, gutter guards, and two skylights in the living room. The snow really is melting thanks to rain and temperatures in the 50s today. There are still places where the snow has drifted or been piled by plows that are 6 feet high. Everyone around here (Southeastern Massachusetts) admits to being totally sick of winter and snow ( Read more... )
