Oh dear, skylarking again! It had been given as a cause of death more than once in the Naval Chronicles.

Geoghegan, such a promising middie, one that Jack also cared about. Jack picked the boy up and carried him into the great cabin, tears running down his face.

Although he wasn't that promising a seaman - never could coil down a rope like a Christian...

I think the sense of warmth and love is the best thing in Aubreyad. I think of the scene in the movie where P. Calmay comes back aboard and Bondon says "I caught a fish."

Same in this passage. Love it.

The movie has caught many emotions of the books, not so much in the literal "translation" to the screen but in the sentiment itself. They do look out for each other, officers and ship's company alike.
