Shabbos menu with guests

Dec 04, 2009 00:13

I had a Shabbos menu all planned and partially cooked, and then I got a call from a seminary asking me to host 2 girls for shaleshudes, the third shabbos meal, which we usually make very small and eat the barest minimum just in order to fulfill the obligation of three meals for shabbos. So I needed to make more food. Here is my (hopefully final) ( Read more... )

it's like a yomtov meal (plus fish). I do fancy things for yomtov, the standard for shabbos.

Wow, that looks really good!

I wouldn't go that far out for seuda shlishit even with guests...I'd still probably just do challah and chummus, maybe tuna or a salad also. But I'm a little bit lazy when it comes to food.

Thanks! Its pretty much just leftover salads from the other meals plus tuna and deviled eggs...
Whatever is leftover will be for during the week. We're having seminary girls and I want them to have a good impression of our community and not think that this community is really as poor as it is.

Usually I assume that people aren't too hungry when it's time to eat seuda shlishit, unless it's during the summer--if it's during the summer then I'll usually make more stuff. But if I ever have you over I'll make sure to have a variety! :)

Sounds very interesting but I wonder if it's not too "untraditional" for some tastes... (except Friday night).

I like going to people for Shabbos and tasting new things. . . .that's part of the fun! What's marinated dinner salad?

(Anony because I don't have a Live Journal account yet. . .)

Just curious, anony, do i know you? :-P You don't have to answer- only if you want to.
Marinated dinner salad= cabbage, peppers, carrots, marinated in vinegar, oil, salt, sugar, pepper. It came out really yummy.
