Glad J. is okay physically, hope she is okay mentally too! Very scary. This I need to be noticed/I hate myself so much I want to die and everyone else should be as miserable as me is getting very old. B. will get mad at me for getting on my soap box, but dang it all there needs to be a starting point. Babies have emotions, babies and young children feel. Parents step up to the plate. Do not expose your children to mind altering chemicals and lack of appropriate hormones- and that means pitocin and scheduled cesareans just because its easier than thinking.
When your baby crys - go to them. Drop everything. If you ignore them before they can talk (and hold a gun) why the frack do you ever think they'll confide in you when they can talk (and hold a gun)?!! And yes if your child is crying - it doesn't matter what - its a big deal. They have feelings. If they are sad enough to cry - you should be a big enough parent to hug them and comfort them and not tell them how to feel.
