It's an informal survey I know. But be aware that bad computer speakers can easily down convert this into the old-fogey range, making this 'tone' audible to anyone.
OK, having gone to the link at fork.com (which isn't what I heard before), I can hear through 15,000Hz... after that, it depends on having the volume way up until (at around 17,000Hz) it's completely inaudible. The one that's actually labelled Mosquito, though, is audible, if not very loud.
I think that the mp3 is a Very Bad approximation of it.
(Go to fork.com, click on "ringtones" at the top, click on "mosquito tones" and its subsequent children in the tree a few times until a range of frequencies is presented; then you can preview the tones at different frequencies.)
It sounded (annoyingly) like my ears ringing in a slightly-too-regular-to-be-tinnitis pattern, if that makes any sense. Better speakers may have helped, or I may be an old fogey. Whatevs, yo.
