A Very Successful Weekend

The 44th Annual Santa Fe Spring Arts Festival started for me on Friday past, when I went over to the site to set up the Booth Pavilion. Yay for profit!

Sam's Club and Costco both sell a battery-booster thingie, intended to be used as an emergency car-jumper, for about $50. The case has an insert for the kind of phone charger you use in the car, and the battery will keep your phone charged up for a very long time. And it's fairly compact, easy to hide behind something else in the booth. Having one available has saved our hide several times when doing a show with no electricity -- it'll run our PC-based register for a full day, and then we take it back to the hotel and charge it up overnight.

Something like that battery jumper/charger is a good thing to know about. There are other options I know, and as I'm still not doing this excessive frequently, not quite yet high on the priority list. I figured I could get to power for a short period if I needed to (the Festival organisers have access to a house on the street, called the Festival House during the weekend, and the Exhibiting Artists have access to that). And really, the crowd was brisk enough that I didn't have much time to while away, anyways.
