I don't think you're in the wrong - you're right, she had the opportunity to ask for measurements and chose not to. When she agreed to buy them, she took responsibility to make sure they were the right measurements for her. She didn't do that, so she can't change her mind now and give 'em back. And what's with the tailor??? Sounds like she's probably annoyed with herself for not asking the question and trying to put the onus back on you. I'd just point out that you didn't lie in the ad, Avenue doesn't sell petite shirts, and the transaction is over as far as you're concerned *shrugs*

If you advertised the shirts as Avenue shirts-then you're correct. Avenue doesn't sell petite shirts. If she has an issue with shirts being too short for her, then she should have asked for measurements before buying the shirts. Yeah, I personally would never question an Avenue shirt, they're generally always long enough for me...

Its up to you if you want to take them back. I don't particularly think you're in the wrong if you don't though. But be prepared for her to give you a negative or at least neutral feedback.

I bought a piece of jewelry once on eBay, a lovely Victorian pin. However, of all things, it smelt bad-really bad. Like it had been in a house with chain smokers. I contacted the seller. The smell was bad enough that if I wore it, I could smell it. The seller took it back, though she didn't have too. She said there were no smokers in the house, but she gave in so easily, I tend to think someone did smoke and she felt 'at fault.'

I generally treat ebay like a yard sale: people are clearing out stuff they don't want but is usually still good. You can't return things to a yard sale, so (unless a return policy is stated) you can't return things on ebay. I believe you are completely in the right.

Also, the woman is an idiot. My mother was a plus-size for years and never once wore petite until she lost the weight. They're two different types: one is all around larger, and the other is all around smaller. Petite doesn't mean short.

Petite doesn't mean short.

Actually, that's exactly what it means. Petite doesn't have to do with the girth or width, but the length. The difference between petite, tall and average pants is the inseam length, not the waist or hip measurements. I often wear petite pants because I have short legs. I've never even SEEN petite tops, but it would make sense that if they existed they'd differ in length from their average/tall counterparts.

Well, except for the fact that Petite isn't "size 0 to 6" or something the way plus-size is seen as say, "size 16 and up" (or what have you). You're right -- petite sizing isn't just shorter, but it is based on height (usually a fit model 5'4 or shorter) with everything proportionately scaled down in places where people are different based on height, not weight (i.e., inseams, rises, sleeve lengths, etc.). Women don't magically gain or lose arm length, leg length, etc ( ... )

you did nothing wrong. it wasn't misleading or mislabeled. But it's a question of being right or getting a bad review.

If she gives me a bad review I can dispute it and have it removed.
