I love Hicham El Guerrouj. I just want to give him a big hug. And perhaps a plate of pasta. He's so skinny! But he's just so adorable! I was glad they showed his medal ceremony for the 5000M race. The Women's Triahlon medal ceremony was VERY sweet. You know that little girls name is Sydney. Her mother couldn't run in Sydney because she was pregnant with her and named her after those games. Pretty cute huh? Yes, I agree. That one made me all weepy. What is it about hallmark moments that make us all gooey? I'll never understand but I love it just the same.

El Guerrouj's story is great. This is the third Olympics he's run the 1500m since he fell in '96 and took silver in '00. The Moroccan king called him in the stadium after the '96 race and told him he's still a hero to Morocco. When he won gold last week, that king's son, now the king, called him to congratulate him. Great that he won the 5000m in the same Games, too.

The women's triathlon was amazing. That clip with the American's daughter on the medal stand was definitely worth gold itself. Stuff like that has to go on an Olympics highlights part of a DVD to reflect the humanity behind the competition.
