And did I blink and miss that the 456 have offered something in exchange this time as well? Because that *was* a bargaining chip he could have made use of.
It hadn't occurred to me Clem was going to get killed off just like that, so I got majorly sniffly.
I was totally not surprised to see the child was still child sized though. Or that the make-up job made me think simultaneously of the gas masks in 'Empty Child', and 'Last of the Time Lords' when that Toclafane got opened.
i think in return, the snot lobster promised not to kill the whole planet
o yeah, the toclafane, that's what it looked like! was the child connected to the snot lobster? like a life support system? that's what i was thinking at first, but no one else seemed to jump to that conclusion
Ah yes, from Day 3, a trade so big I didn't remember it - probably because it was so WHOLLY negative.
Only then *thinks* the 'flu vaccine thing in '65' would still have been a bargaining tool possibly... As there's a clear difference - to me - between those two levels of threat.
I thought definitely some kind of symbiotic thing going on there *nods* you are not alone. Which made me wonder why the 456 weren't here playing the "Please OMG you have to help us. We are a dying race" card.
Afraid not :S I want fic for Clem, because he didn't seem to get enough screen time/development for me to really love him like I wanted to.
*rolls eyes* You know how in fic, we're always using the phrase "it's Jack" to explain things? I'm starting to explain the various LOGIC FAILS in Children of Earth by saying "it's Torchwood" and just switching off my brain to go with it.
While I was watching I had Rodney's voice in my head going "Ooh we could do this and this. And how about we try that?" And at the same time had the Spooks episode where they ran a scenario for a biological (I think it was) incident in that same building... Damn cross fandom bunnies.
from what little I could tell YES, fandom went all explody and people were threatening to take up their toys and go home. And apparently James Moran (who wrote ep 3, not 4) had his blog and twitter viciously attacked over and over to the point he had to shut them down. *grumbles* Some people give fandom/fans a bad name.
I hate when writers feel it necessary to write the bad buys as the twirl mustache kind of unbeatable evil. Obviously they won't win in the end, they never do, but all writers have to write the heroes into the unwinnable, unsurmountable corner. There *has* to be a way out and it just bugs me when the writers go with the trope that suggests there isn't.
OH th epoor bloke! And I liked Part 3. Come to that I like Part 2 with all it's runing around as well so I'd been kind of looking forward to watching 4 as I'd understood they were both written by John Fay(?) and only had to dread tonight's RTD episode.
And damn I just had a thought inbetween replying over in Jades' meta post and here and now I cannot remember what it was...
Son and I won't get to start watching it until after it has begun - he has judo tonight and between finishing the session late (quite likely) and the roadworks on the flyover at Lancing - you know where? - we'll maybe get home about 9:15 or so.
I'll be recording it on BBC3 later though so we'll watch it all from the beginning in the morning.
