lj idol four: the axe forgets; the tree remembers

Trigger warning for mentions of rape, sexual situations, abuse, and death of a family member. Nothing really detailed or anything. The story has a happy ending. It's about a friend of mine from college and the abusive relationships she was in.

might be triggering? )

My goodness, quite the live soap opera there. Well done.

It's crazy how dramatic high school and college were compared to how boring life is now :) but it's a good boring

I am glad you could make up and that she got away from Jimmy.

My ex husband was not rich but otherwise sounds exactly like Jimmy. My ex loved to throw fits to get free food and then bragged about it being free. He was also big on trying to break me apart from any and all friends.

I am sorry your birthday was so hard. Hugs!!

My mother enjoys doing things like that with food too, and it's horrible :/ I'm always embarrassed if I'm with her and she does that

“Cheap thongs”? Check your 1st paragraph. Lol. Unless you intended to say things and not things.

She really did buy cheap thongs. She bought them in the most ridiculous designs and colors. Her favorite was the metallic silver one with sequins.

I'm glad May's story has a happy end, but what a hard thing, to watch your best friend go through all of that and to have to bear the brunt of it, too. Crappy partners are not worth losing friends over.

It was awful because we could all see it, but she couldn't, I'm just glad something happened that made her get rid of Jimmy for good

Oh man. There are far too many stories like this, and it sucks how easily someone can get swept up in a relationship like that. I have an ex who tried to destroy a lot of my friendships. Some he did destroy, some were never the same again, but thankfully some endured, and eventually I stopped listening to his pettiness about my friends and got rid of him. The level of insecurity in guys like that and what it leads them to do is just atrocious.

But I'm glad this had a happy ending.
