Them pictures are all awesomsauce. Ah, the icons they'd make... ;)
Sometimes it's scary what fandoms can do to us. I still feel the sting from Star Trek Voyager's Janeway/Chakotay fiasco and that show ended nine years ago (plus I'm not passionately involved in the fandom anymore). But the memory of what was and how us fans were let down...
Of course there are dozens of other examples. I don't know who made the decision in LHDP that created this situationn, but sometimes it seems like the TPTB are doing these things just bacause they can.
They make us love the characters and say things like "this character is my favorite of them all and I've invested a lot of emotions and time to them" and then in the end, the character is ruthlessly and senselessly killed. Yes, I'm once again talking about JK Rowling and her butchering of Snape. I swear, I'll never get over that.
Yeah, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and it definitely is a tad disconcerting that something fictitious can have such a huge impact on a person's mental health, heh. Then again, there's the saying that only fiction tells the truth, so...
But yeah. Several past fandoms still affect me greatly (Bad Girls, Law & Order: SVU etc.), so I definitely know what you mean. This is especially true if TPTB did something that, figuratively speaking, slapped you across the face - like Janeway/Chakotay in your case.
Oh, how I wish the fangirls were writing the shows.
What, me? I'm never addicted to anything! Only been up all night making new ones. Again. Even when I just posted new LotS ones. What can I say? Never claimed I was sane. :P
Tell me about it! I'm still, against all odds, hoping for a magical Pepa/Silvia reunion at the end of this current and last season. Please, TPTB, for once do it right. *laments*
