Great one-shot. You've made young John and young Isobel such sympathetic characters. In your story, you captured the core of the grown-up vampire Isobel that we met in the show. She left John and Elena just like she would end up leaving Alaric. She wants a better life for Elena and she's realistic enough that she wants Elena to grow up with a maternal figure like Miranda. Young John is sooooo different; he was such a romantic before life got complicated. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! I'm so glad you liked it and my interpretation of their characters. I find the idea of them so intriguing and always wanted to know more about what happened when they were younger, what happened with regrards to Elena. I'm sad that we never got that on the show, so I decided to play with the idea myself.
