Ah, this is lovely. Her fragility is somehow both heartbreaking and beautiful. No wonder she has those boys wrapped around her finger.

I know you wrote this some time ago, but I would be remiss if I didn't take a moment to let you know how lovely it really is. I love the idea of Caroline and escapism whatever the impetus, and I like the way that you played with her motivations here. Particularly interesting is how you've brought Elijah into the mix. His unwillingness to become involved while still watching out for her is spot-on.

This story is just beautifully sad.
