- Mini-update to "Tasteful San Antonio": in the window of one of the transient hotels near my office, there is posted a confusing handwritten notice which reads 'YOU WILL BE CRIMINALLY TRESPASSED FOR LOITERING IN THE LOBBY OF THIS BUILDING'.

- I picked up a used copy of Mercenaries for PS2 last week. It looks like it should be fun and all, but I ( Read more... )

I love those comics stamps. I used them for all of my holiday cards this year. Also, I think you should get another camera, but I don't really have a good recommendation for you. I have a mid-price-range Canon that I wish was smaller but which takes decent photos and has a good zoom lens.

A world where Leonard doesn't take photographs for the benefit of all of us is a world I don't want to live in.

I have a similar digital camera dilemma. My beloved Canon S230 mysteriously stopped working. I do have another one, but it's a digital rebel DSLR and isn't as portable as I like a camera to be sometimes. I want something that just fits in my pocket instead of functioning as a neck anchor most of the time.

I've been looking at new point and shoot cameras lately, and I've been irritated by the fact that none of them seem to use the same media as my old S230. CF, it seems, has fallen out of favor with manufacturers, presumably due to it's size. SD and XD are all the rage among the kids, so it's a good thing I bought so much CF media.

In the end, I'll probably go with another Canon, because I like their product and they generally have a good combination of low light sensors and color. On the other hand, I saw a real nice looking little Olympus the other day that was under $200. I used to have an Olympus years ago and was happy with it too.

Wow, the bugs in your copy of MERCENARIES sound horrible. I have no freakin' clue what could be the matter. The only bug I ever encountered was a machine lockup after playing for several hours. And that only happened once. Maybe you got some shitty bootleg version instead of a "real" copy? The computer programmer in me says that is a stupid suggestion, but I can't think of anything else. The game's clearly defective, can you take it back to the store where you got it and demonstrate the problems on one of their machines?

I'm sure it's just a bad disc. They'll take it back no problem, I'd bet.

The wheel-less cars thing is kinda fun, actually, but the inordinately long load times are a drag.

I have a point-and-shoot digicam that I've been very, very happy with for more than two years now. It's a Kodak EasyShare - older model than the link, of course, but I don't imagine they've started making them worse since then. It's light and easy to use and doesn't eat up too much battery power. I've used it to shoot things that a point-and-shoot is just not meant for, like fast-moving objects and the insides of dark caves, and it's proven to be very good, to the point where my shots came out perfectly while my friends' shots of the same things were blurry and not usable. For instance, I took it with me on a visit to Yellowstone and a subsequent road trip, and the pictures turned out fantastic.

Yeah, the one that was stolen out of my luggage was a recent model (like, less than three months old) Kodak EasyShare, and I was pretty pleased with it.
