Getting Ready To Launch New Blog

Jul 28, 2020 16:24

It appears I'm ready to begin a newer, more polished and "pretty" version of my At Spiral's End site. I've been looking around for the best place to launch a new blog, and I think Strikingly is the one I'm going to go with! They have a good blogging platform, but I can use it to promote my books eventually (and even sell them -- you can sell 1 item ( Read more... )

Impressive strategy for increasing your writing! I relate to needing to feel an emotional pull to stay invested in something. Intellect does not top the heart when it comes to creating motivation.

No kidding!

I guess I'm trying to use my anxiety to work FOR me for once instead of against me. I know that if I can find a way to reduce anxiety that deals with doing some task first, it actually works to help me relax for a few hours. I'm going to try that approach (avoiding a negative while going for a positive) and see how it fares. In the past, I could make this kind of thing work.

I just have to be careful not to create a situation where I fall further and further behind and get so desperate I give up in despair. That won't work. Which is why I'm limiting how many days per week to do this. I'm off the hook if I get it done early, but I won't panic if I can't do it on some days.

Sometimes you just have to force yourself into a habit.

Sort of off-topic, but I've been reading up on Wiccan, and I was wondering if you follow any particular branch/tradition? Can you recommend any good books?

Thanks! I will look for Ravenwolf's and Starhawk's books. I have a bunch of older ones by Scott Cunningham, and a newer one by Dorothy Morrison that seems to have a lot of modern thought to it. I forget who wrote the ebook I am reading, but I'm finding lots of errors in it, so I'm wondering if it's self-published.... Anyway, I will probably lean towards Celtic myself, though I am not planning on joining a coven. Not really sure there are any around me, anyway (I live in a very conservative area - lots of Amish and such around here). My roomie is actually part of a very conservative church, too, and told me when I moved in that I shouldn't bring that into her house. So, this is going to be all on the down-low. She even called my "coexist" t shirt "pagan" in a derogatory way...(Though she seems fine with the old-fashioned Pennsylvania German pow-wowing, so go figure.)

Ah- I lived in Southeastern Ohio between West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky so I get what you're saying. We had a bunch of Amish nearby too.

Even if you're "Solitary" pagan, finding a path that jives is crucial I think, so have fun exploring!

Good Celtic pagan books I've read: By Ash, Oak, & Thorn: Modern Celtic Shamanism by D.J. Conway

And Celtic Magic also by D.J. Conway
