[Today, Uhura is making herself useful. She's in the item shop, rummaging around for, well... anything that she might be able to convert into a radio, so a lot of non-working electronic stuff is piling up in a rucksack she's carrying.

Go on, ask her what she's doing/bug her/tease her/etc.]

[Kurtis is at the item shop, too. He has been trying to make a communication device for a while, but he hasn't had much luck. He's looking at many of the same parts as Uhura.]

[Kurtis chuckles]

It's nothing compared to some of the stores in the Netherworld.

No doubt this Netherworld place is pretty peculiar all on its own.

It is, but not quite in the way rumors would suggest...

What, no fire and brimstone? I always thought that was pretty uncreative, anyway.

There's fire and brimstone in some places. But those are more like beaches and resorts to the demons...

So does everyone who dies in your world go to the same place, or is there some kind of Heaven?

The sinful become Prinnies like me and work in the Netherworld and Celestia to repay their sins. Those who aren't sinful pass on to Heaven, but I don't know where it is, or what it's like.

[She raises her eyebrows at that.]

What distinguishes between a sinner and a non-sinner? I mean, I'd venture to say nearly everyone does things that might be considered sinful, at least once in a while.

[Hey, she's not asking him what he did that was so bad, she's keeping to more general questions.]

I'm not sure how it's decided, exactly. It's not Death or the Overlord or the Seraph. I think that in the case of most Prinnies, their sins are serious, like murder or betrayal. It's more like the Universe itself decides, I think.

[He's not afraid to tell others what he did, but he usually doesn't bring it up unless they ask him...]

Seems more than a little arbitrary to me.

What if someone is unwilling to repay their sins?

Then they remain trapped as Prinnies. I hear that there is a place called Prinny Land where they often escape to.

So... you were sinful enough in life to end up one of these "Prinnies" but smart enough to agree to pay back your sins?

Actually, I realized the error of my ways while I was still alive, and had started to change. In many ways, becoming a Prinny is a good thing for me, because it allows me to truly make up for what I did.

That's quite exceptional.
